Private Finance Initiatives (PFI)

PFI or Private Finance Initiatives make up a small but significant part of how Your Housing Group creates new and different homes.

We operate several PFI projects across the Group, each offering something different. Usually created in partnership with a group of other companies, PFI’s enable us to offer large scale projects over a longer period of time.

Avantage

A group of five extra care developments across Cheshire, aimed at those people aged 60 and over. The five sites are set in rural Cheshire and opened eight years ago in partnership with Cheshire East and Cheshire West & Chester Council. Avantage offers customers a mix of on-site facilities including a restaurant, gym, library and shop to ensure they enjoy their independence for longer. Care and support packages are on offer, should the individual need a little help and the level of care and support is able to grow with the individual’s needs. Avantage offers customers the flexibility of mixed tenure living, with apartments available for affordable rent, shared ownership and outright sale.

Sapphire

In Partnership with Stoke-on-Trent City Council, Sapphire offers 390 retirement living apartments, all for affordable rent across three developments in the City. The first of the three developments, Willow Barns in Blurton, opened its doors in May 2016 and offers 75 apartments to local people. Oak Priory in Abbey Hulton opened in August 2017 and offers 175 apartments and Maple West in Chell, with 140 apartments opened in April 2017. Care and support is based on-site at all developments and can grow with the individual’s needs. Each development also includes a restaurant, hairdressers and beauty salon, gym, treatment room and large outdoor spaces.

GROVE VILLAGE

Grove Village Limited is a partnership led consortium made up of the Your Housing Group, MJ Gleesons and MBIA, delivering a £100 million, 30 year housing regeneration programme to over 1000 properties on behalf of Manchester City Council.

The objective was to transform Grove Village into a successful, well managed mixed tenure urban village, transforming not only the physical environment though housing refurbishment, clearance, new builds and environmental creativity, but also though community engagement, targeting unemployment, increasing the life chances and integrity of the diversely rich community.

The project was the first Government-backed PFI scheme for social housing to reach contractual close. Since then, local residents, elected members have celebrated the projects impact on the community, which has also gained the respect from within the Housing Regeneration Sector.
