Warrington Youth Club support Verve Place with food donations

Verve Place has 38 apartments where young people are encouraged to live independently. As well as being taught essential skills, staff work closely with residents to harness talent and promote self-belief, positive aspects that can be severely hindered by challenging environments.

A group of young people from Warrington Youth Club have carried out a food drive and generously made food donations to Verve Place, to be used as part of its in-house food bank.

Verve Place owned by Your Housing Group and provides temporary supported accommodation for young people. The in-house foodbank provides added support to the young residents, the majority of who are managing on minimal income.

Verve Place had put out a request for donations of tinned/long-life food item to help restock the emergency food cupboard. The youth club took this on as a challenge and a group of young people took the initiative, and 2 days out of their own time, to stand and collect food donations outside local supermarkets specifically to support Verve Place.

Paul Storey, from Your Housing Group, said “the group did an amazing job and the community were so generous in their donations. Our residents at Verve Place are working really hard to be responsible and manage their lives independently, and help like this really supports them on that journey. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard.”

Verve Place and Warrington Youth Club have a strong working relationship. Their strong relationship was showcased when they were shortlisted for the Foyer Fed SPARK awards 2018 and was highly commended for ‘Best Partnership Award’.
