Vacancies Chair of People Committee

Due to the appointment of our Vice Chair to Board Chair, we now have a rare opportunity to appoint a Chair of the People Committee, here at Your Housing Group.

For this Committee Chair appointment, we are keen to hear from executive leaders that have experience of serving on a committee, ideally as chair or deputy chair, that can bring to the People Committee and the board, extensive strategic experience of People, culture and organisational development and change, either within the housing sector, or other regulated public sector organisation.

As Chair of the People Committee, you will play a key role in scrutinising and overseeing delivery of the Groups strategic plans around people, engagement, culture and values.  You will ensure the committee fulfils its delegated authority from the Board in respect of our People Strategy and Board Development Plan and ensures there are agreed priorities, processes and a productive culture within the committee, providing the Board with the necessary assurance.

The Chair of People Committee also incorporates the responsibilities of a Senior Independent Director, a trusted intermediary for Board members, Senior leaders, and sounding board for the Board Chair. Also serving as a board member, instrumental in setting the Groups wider strategic direction, bringing further viewpoints and ideas which help us to innovate and influence what a housing provider can do.

At the heart of our mission at Your Housing Group, is a commitment to both delivering excellent customer service to our tenants and leaseholders as well as building and maintaining as many quality houses as possible. We have a large and diverse portfolio of over 25,000 properties for social and affordable rent, supported living, and innovative private rental offers, spanning the North West, Yorkshire, and the Midlands, and are a Strategic Partner to Homes England.

In the last few years, we have streamlined our group structure and developed more effective business/customer facing services. We have invested a significant amount in our assets and are well advanced in our Building Safety works. As an organisation we have planned for the future and are delivering  on our three-year Corporate Strategy, to deliver our vision to provide more people a safe place to call home.

We also know that the sector faces challenges as we move forward, and we want to continue to ensure our Board represents all kinds of backgrounds, perspectives, and reflects the communities we serve, so we are looking to attract Non-Executive Directors that share our vision, values, and goals to steer us through the next stage of our development.

If you can commit around two days a month for Committee and Board meetings, to work collaboratively and closely with other Board Members to develop our strategy and ensure compliance and are willing to act as an ambassador for YHG, then there’s an opportunity here for you to make a real contribution to the strategic decisions of the Group at the highest level.

So, if you are a motivational leader, experienced working at Board level in an advisory capacity and facilitating committee meetings, ready for a new challenge with a great organisation we would really love to hear from you!
