This week (Wednesday 15 April), we celebrated the completion of improvement works at St Lesmo Court, our Older People’s Scheme in Manchester.
Over the past nine weeks, our teams have worked hard to make the scheme a safer, warmer and more comfortable place to call home.
Thanks to an investment of around £140,000 and working with our contractor, Hankinson Whittle, the communal areas at St Lesmo Court have been transformed, with the following improvements delivered:
- Full internal and external redecoration, including new carpets and paintwork
- Upgraded lighting throughout the building and external areas
- Replacement of internal ceiling areas
- All communal storage heaters upgraded to more efficient, user‑controlled models
- A brand‑new communal kitchen, including a new oven and induction hob
- A full clean of all windows and doors.
To mark the completion of the works, we held a celebratory event were residents and colleagues enjoyed a tour of the newly decorated building, followed by a buffet, live singer and raffle, kindly donated by our contractor.
Residents were delighted with the results and enjoyed a fantastic day celebrating the end of the works. We received some brilliant feedback, which really shows the positive impact of the improvements. One resident said, “It looks amazing, I’ll definitely come down into the lounge more often to relax,” while another shared, “It feels so much more like a home now.”
Thank you to everyone involved. We look forward to providing more upgrades throughout the year to ensure more people have a safe place to call home.
