We’re excited to announce the completion of our 216 new home development at Edgefield Green in Openshaw, where we’ve transformed unused land into a safe community.

The £33.1 million scheme, supported by a £9.03 million grant from Homes England, offers a mix of Rent to Buy, shared ownership, affordable rent, and social rent homes - providing a safe place to call home for a wide range of residents.

Six of the homes are part of a research and development initiative, fitted with energy-saving technologies such as heat pumps, solar panels with battery storage, and systems that recover heat from wastewater. We’ll be monitoring energy use in these homes to help shape future decisions around sustainable housing.

To celebrate the completion, we welcomed colleagues and partners from Homes England, Manchester City Council, Lovell Partnerships, and CPC Project Services to the site. One resident summed up the quality of the new homes and said “You’ve given us our forever home, thank you so much!”

Lorraine Donnelly, our Executive Director of Asset and Development, said “It’s been great to come back to Edgefield Green and see it completed. Speaking to the residents, you get a real sense of the community which is taking shape here and it’s an amazing transformation from what this site was just a few years ago. I’d like to thank our partners for their hard work to deliver a development that’s not only affordable and high-quality, but also future-focused.”

Kate Collins, Head of Affordable Housing Delivery at Homes England, said “As the Government’s housing and regeneration agency, one of our key objectives is to increase the supply of high quality, affordable homes. We’re committed to supporting partners of all sizes to help them realise their ambitions and deliver the homes communities need..."

Edgefield Green is a fantastic example of what we can achieve through our strong partnerships and a shared commitment to creating affordable and safe homes.
