Our development team recently welcomed Trafford Council Leader Cllr Tom Ross to The Shires, our housing development in Partington, Greater Manchester, to see the full transformation of the previously disused land.
The Shires is located on Oak Road in the semi-rural town in South Manchester, and is a £11.5m development with 75 homes built by our build partner MCI developments. It offers a mix of shared ownership and affordable rent and attracted more than 2,500 enquiries, showing the high demand for housing in the area.
Cllr Tom Ross said: “I am so impressed with this site – it is more than housing, it is people’s homes, it is their wellbeing, true regeneration for Partington. I’m delighted at the use of affordable rent and shared ownership as well so that our borough’s residents can achieve a better standard of living. Partnerships are important when driving change, and this development is an example of what can be achieved working together. It has transformed this land.”
The Shires is in a great location in the semi-rural town; on the doorstep of the popular Redbrook Nature Trail, within walking distance of schools, parks and local amenities, and with direct bus routes into Manchester.
During the visit the Cllr Ross and our Chair Mike Gaskell met with Jessica, who purchased her home at The Shires through shared ownership.
Jessica talked to them about her experience of shared ownership and moving to Partington, she said “It is so close to the countryside, which is great for walking the dog, but you can also be at the Trafford Centre in 10 minutes. It really feels like home and I 100% recommend doing shared ownership to get onto the property ladder. Some of my friends are looking at doing it now that they’ve seen my house, and I’ve told them how easy it was. It was great to just be able to move in and everything was done.”
Your Housing Group is the main landlord in Partington as we have more than 1300 homes in the town. Since 2019 we have invested over £10 million in Partington upgrading kitchens, bathrooms, windows, doors, central heating, roofing and porches. Investment in Partington will continue with circa £16 million pounds set aside over the next four years.
