The Resolve Standard is a national award that recognises our high-quality work and commitment to dealing with antisocial behaviour (asb).

The award stated “Your Housing Group’s Antisocial Behaviour (ASB) Team offer a robust high quality asb service... show(ing) a strong corporate commitment, especially around domestic abuse and safeguarding, recognising the importance of making communities safer and ensuring appropriate resources are in place to support all victims of asb.”

In order to achieve this award, we had to go through a rigorous process which involved been reviewed by our fellow organisations, and demonstrating evidence of our work within the following six areas:

  1. Victims and Communities
“YHG demonstrate a commitment to tackling antisocial behaviour and to promote community safety, ensuring the customer journey is a positive one. It is clear from the review that antisocial behaviour complaints are being triaged (assessed) at first point of contact…by specialist ASB Officers based on risk of harm and vulnerability, where the focus is on preventing further harm."
  2. Challenge and Change
“The service follows a triple track approach of early intervention, positive engagement and enforcement when necessary….The service is always open to different ways of working and open to new ideas, coming up with solutions demonstrating great collaboration with other agencies.”
  3. Leadership Culture and Resources
“Executive members have a strong understanding of the service area with ASB seen as a priority and high on the agenda….The Board of Directors routinely scrutinise ASB satisfaction performance with data gained through surveys conducted at case closure by both the ASB Team and the Tenancy Management Team. The teams feel supported and that their work is a priority for the business.”
  4. Problem Solving and Partnership
“The ASB Team and the police work closely together to tackle antisocial behaviour in partnership alongside other community safety partners. Feedback from partners demonstrates the ASB Team are one of the strongest relationships they have within the regions they cover within all levels of the organisation and have gone to great lengths to build relationships with partners with effort from both sides.”
  5. 5. Performance
“The ASB Team’s commitment to reducing the impact of ASB begins at first point of contact and continues through the management of a case, where the focus of the officer being as much about supporting the victims and witnesses as well as work around the perpetrator. They have an annual service delivery plan which…sets priorities for the following year identifying key things they need to work on. The plans consider opportunities for improvement, advancing equality, diversity and inclusion and performance and risk management.”
  6. 6. Professional Development
“All contact centre staff receive mandatory training that includes ASB and Safeguarding, and all operatives who attend people’s homes are trained to recognise safeguarding concerns receiving regular briefings and support from a Safeguarding Lead. The ASB service has a significant commitment to the professional development of staff,…”

Under each of the areas listed above there were a total of 42 commitments we had to provide evidence of and we achieved 40 of them as the top level of ‘In place and effective’, with just two noted as ‘In place but could be improved.’. None were noted as ‘Not in place.’

Sarah Butler, Housing Operations Manager - North, and ASB Service Lead, said, “To be awarded this recognition for the next three years highlights how hard our dedicated team of specialists work in order to provide an efficient, and quality asb service. Over the last few years, we have made significant changes and improvements to the service and remain committed to providing safe environments for all our residents, and ensuring more people have a safe place to call home.”
