Grove village rent and payments
Your rent is set by Manchester City Council. You will receive four weeks notice of the council’s intention to change your rent. If you wish to have these changes explained, please contact Grove Village.
Rent is charged for 50 weeks each year - allowing you a rent free week at Christmas and Easter. If your account is in arrears you will still be charged rent for those weeks, and will not get Christmas and Easter weeks rent free.
Paying your Rent
There are many convenient ways for you to pay your rent – you just need to choose which is the best one for you.
Each rent week starts on Monday. You can pay your rent weekly, fortnightly or monthly, but it should be paid in advance. So if you pay monthly, you should pay February’s rent at the start of January.
To get a payment card, simply call the Grove Village Neighbourhood Office on 0161 274 1180. Once you have a payment card there are lots of places where you can pay.
You can pay at any shop or garage displaying the PayPoint, epay sign, or at any post office.
Over the Phone
If you have a debit or credit card, you can pay over the phone, but you will need a payment card to do this. Call Grove Village, or if you prefer, call the 24-hour automated service from allpay.net on 0844 557 8321 (calls are charged at national rate and will last about two minutes).

Over the Internet
You will need a payment card for this. With your debit or credit card you can pay over the internet at www.allpay.net using a debit or credit card and a payment card.

By Direct Debit
You can pay your rent direct from your bank account. Many people find this easy as there is no need to visit payment points or remember to send regular payments. Once the direct debit is set up, you don’t need to do anything else. You always stay in complete control of your money because you choose the day or date to pay, how often and the amount you want to pay. If there are any changes to the amount collected from your account, you will receive 14 days’ notice in writing.
If you want to set up a direct debit, call the Grove Village Neighbourhood Office and we will send you a simple form to complete.
Please note: we do not accept cash payments in any of our offices.
However you pay, you will be given a receipt or reference number. You should keep this safe as proof of payment and check it is shown on the rent statement we send you every three months. At the start of each rent year we will also send you a rent payment calendar to let you know the dates your rent is due.
It is very important that you pay your rent when it is due.
If you are having difficulty, Grove Village will be understanding and we will do all we can to help you find a solution. But you must contact us immediately.
If you miss a payment, you should try to pay extra the next week. Our staff are trained to deal with money problems and can offer practical advice.
However, we take a serious view of any tenant who refuses to pay their rent and we will always seek to take back their home through the courts if this happens.

Housing benefits, often known as rent rebate, is money you can claim towards the cost of your rent or council tax if you are on a low income. If you are a Grove Village resident you can make a claim online at the office with a member of our team, this will speed up the claims process and ensure its processed quicker.
How much you will get will depend on your income, any savings you have, and the number and ages of people living with you.
Manchester Revenues and Benefits Service will send you written confirmation of the amount you will receive. They will also tell us the amount.
