First,  follow this guide to help reduce the amount of waste you generate.

Second, try to reuse items again. By finding other uses for everyday items, we can reduce the amount that goes into our rubbish bins.

Finally, recycling is another way that we can reduce the amount of waste that affects our environment. An online recycling guide tells you which items that can be recycled and tips on how to dispose of them properly.

To find out what recycling services are available in your area, please search for your local council and follow the links to their website.

You can also find recycling stations at your local Waste Centre.

Reporting fly tipping

If you see items that have been dumped or spot someone fly tipping in your area, please report this to your local authority.

If the rubbish has been dumped on an area that we own, either inside or outside a building, please report it using  Your Home Hub.

Please give as much detail as possible, such as the type of waste and exactly where it’s located. This will prioritise its removal and help in our investigations to prevent it happening again.

Disposing of bulky waste items

You’re responsible for arranging the removal of your own bulky waste. You must not put it in communal areas or bin stores.

Most local authorities provide a low-cost collection service for bulky waste, and some will even collect items like fridges for free.

Check with your local council to find out how you should deal with your bulky waste.

Make sure to dispose of your waste properly as fly tipping in communal areas is a criminal act and can lead to a significant fine if you’re caught. It can also be a fire hazard or pose a health and safety risk to others.

Please be responsible with your waste at all times.
